My 3 year old has asthma. It's not severe, but what hits most kids as a regular cold can turn bad fast for him. As irony would have it, the very medicines which open up his airways so he can breathe, also make him hyper. And if you've ever met him, you know that he needs no help to be hyper under normal circumstances. His cough got worse over the weekend and he spiked a fever this morning (the highest reading I took was 103.9 right before we left for the doctor's office). It's probably pneumonia, and he started antibiotics this morning. Hopefully it will just be a few days before he clears up, but in the meantime, I'll be spending a lot of time asking him to stop running around so he can catch his breath.
Here he is in a brief moment of repose.
